International Fireworks Festival enhances Da Nang’s tourism brand

(VOVWORLD) - The 2024 Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) concluded last Saturday after one month. Since its debut in 2008, the annual event has become increasingly popular and has promoted the tourism brand of Da Nang as “the city of fireworks” and a leading festival destination in Asia.

Every Saturday night for the past month the Han River in Da Nang sparkled with fireworks. Spectators filled a 10,000-seat grandstand and tens of thousands more lined Thuan Phuoc Bridge, Dragon Bridge, and both sides of the river to watch the fireworks.

A tourist named Cao My Le said, “The fireworks performances are spectacular, beautiful, and artistic. If I have the opportunity, I’ll return to Da Nang to watch the international fireworks festival again.”

DIFF attracts fireworks teams from around the world. Nadia Shakira Wong, Director of the Global 2000 Fireworks Organization Consulting Company, says the organizers and teams do their utmost to bring the audience the best shows the technology can create.

Johan Dan Erik Hollaender, head of the Finnish team, said he hopes to attend the next International Fireworks Festival.

“This is our third time here. I must say I’m amazed it’s growing bigger and bigger for every time I was here. It’s a world class event. We are proud and honored to be invited here. The hospitality from the Sun Group is flawless. I would like to come back, if they are calling for us. We always love to participate in Da Nang fireworks festival,” Johan said.

This year the organizers treated audiences to a number of brand-new performances. A show called "Awaken River” woke up the western bank of the Han River with thrilling jetski and flyboard performances straight out of Hollywood blockbusters.

Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee, said DIFF has enhanced Da Nang’s tourism brand and made the central city the leading event and festival destination in Asia.

“The fireworks festival and its accompanying programs gave visitors a broad acquaintance with the beautiful city of Da Nang. We are turning Da Nang into a smart, creative, sustainable city,” said Chinh.

DIFF takes place on 5 nights of competition. Da Nang’s plan is to expand the festival and build a fireworks ecosystem with the eventual goal of making DIFF a four-season festival and Da Nang the international fireworks capital.
