Lai Chau's awe-inspiring natural landscapes and rich cultural tapestry comprising 20 ethnic groups give it an advantage in attracting tourists. Last year, visitors to Lai Chau surged more than 100%, and tourism revenue jumped more than 130% from the previous year.

In recent years, Lai Chau has prioritized tourism, organizing 70 cultural, sports, and tourism events this year alone. High points were receiving ASEAN's Community Tourism Award and hosting the inaugural Cultural Festival of Ethnic Groups with a Population of Fewer than 10,000 and the Lai Chau Culture and Tourism Week in 2023. Collaborative efforts with other regions and organizations to promote tourism have contributed to the province's success. The influx of visitors to Lai Chau has been given a significant boost following the province’s participation in festivals and events such as the 7th Bauhinia Festival of Dien Bien province, "Northwestern Essence – Green Aspiration 2023", the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival, the Northwest Tourism and Culture Week in Can Tho city, and the Northwest Tourism - Culture Week at the International Tourism Fair (VITM) in Hanoi.

In order to promote sustainable tourism and position Lai Chau as an appealing destination in the northwest region, the province is concentrating on creating high-quality tourism products, preserving its ethnic cultures, innovating and diversifying tourism offerings, and enhancing experiential activities.

Tran Manh Hung, Deputy Director of the Lai Chau Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said: "We have adopted a resolution that integrates the preservation and promotion of ethnic cultural identities with tourism development. The province is also actively promoting local culture in tandem with tourism development and community-based tourism."

To further enhance its appeal, Lai Chau is diversifying its advertising and promotional endeavors across various channels, including its tourism website.
