(VOVworld) - The Vietnamese embassy in India has officially announced the winners of a logo contest to mark the 45th anniversary of Vietnam and India’s diplomatic ties. First prize went to Nguyen Hung Quoc Dung of Ho Chi Minh City.
Next year, Vietnam and India will mark the 45th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, which were established on January 7, 1972. A prelude of the celebration was a logo contest launched in September. Vietnamese Ambassador to India Ton Sinh Thanh said the 200 submissions had been sent to the embassy in 2 months. Many entries came from students, even elementary pupils. Many entries creatively combined cultural symbols of the two countries: lotus, praying hands, wet rice plants, India’s Tai Mahal and Vietnam’s One-Pillar Pagoda. The dominant colors were the colors of the national flags of the two countries: red, yellow, green, white, and orange. Some logos were produced on a computer. Others were drawn by hand.
In addition to the first prize, the organizing board awarded additional 7 prizes based on public voting on the Embassy’s Facebook page. Other awards went to the oldest contestant, 77 years old, and the youngest contestant, 10 years old.
Painter Nguyen Quy Kien Henry, who has had his paintings exhibited in India, said the contest was very professional and promotes solidarity between the two nations. Commenting on the first prize logo, Henry called it inspirational. The image of the national flags of the two countries nested within the numbers 4 and 5, with strong colors and a cohesive layout resembling a calendar cover, symbolizes the close and eternal friendship between Vietnam and India.
Since December 2, winning entry has been used by the Embassy as the official logo for the anniversary.
