(VOVworld) – In Vietnam the Mid-Autumn festival on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month is a festival for children. On this occasion, families, organizations, agencies, and communities show their love and care for the younger generation.

This year the Hanoi Old Quarter’s Management Board hosted a series of activities, including exhibitions of Mid-Autumn festival traditional items and demonstrations of making toys such as paper doctors, lanterns, and kites. Tran Thuy Lan, Deputy Head of the Board, said: “This time we have worked with artisans from craft villages, photographers, and artists to install traditional spaces in Hanoi Old Quarter’s relic sites. Through these programs, we hope to contribute to preserving Vietnam’s traditions and provide a healthy playground for children.”
Ho Chi Minh city officials have organized a program called “Mid-Autumn festival Dream” for more than 1,000 disadvantaged kids in Binh Thanh, Tan Binh, Thu Duc, Cu Chi, Binh Duong, District 7, and District 8. Dak Lak province’s Fund for the Protection of Children, in collaboration with private companies gave 450 gifts worth 5,000 USD to poor children in Ea Kar, Krong Buk, and Krong Pak district. The Fund also provided 10 scholarships to encourage poor students to continue their schooling.
In Yen Bai province social organizations hosted Mid-Autumn festival for 195 children in the remote district of Mu Cang Chai and gave 144 gifts given to kids in Tram Tau district. Le Hoang Anh, leader of the “Young connectivity” team in Yen Bai, said: "Over the years we have worked to help children in difficult circumstances enjoy the Mid-Autumn festival. Recently, we have visited remote, mountain hamlets and delivered gifts to local kids, who have never gone beyond their village’s outskirts. We want them to feel happy during the festival just like kids elsewhere.”
In a letter addressed to Vietnamese children and teenagers, President Tran Dai Quang said that the Party, State, and people of Vietnam pay special attention to the protection, care, and education of children. Other national and local leaders attended Mid-Autumn festivals for children all over Vietnam.
