Personal QR code developed to fight COVID-19

(VOVWORLD) -  The Ministry of Information and Communications has issued technical guidance on developing personal QR codes on platforms and applications that serve the fight against COVID-19. Using a single personal QR code for each individual on all platforms and applications will make it easier for users and management agencies to check and trace data.

Under the Ministry guidelines, each citizen will be given a personal QR Code for all anti-pandemic apps.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, said, 'We also need to develop a single application to make it easier to manage each citizen’s  address, phone number, medical record, and movements. All the information will assist the fight against COVID-19. The Ministry of Public Security will use the database to assign a personal QR code to each individual.'

The Ministries of Public Security, Information and Communications, and Health have agreed to use one form of health declaration issued by the Ministry of Public Security and use a single QR code for currently available applications like Ncovi, Bluzone, and VHD.

Trần Duy Hiển, Deputy Director of the National Population Database Center, said, 'Citizens’ personal information will be integrated in one QR code, which can be scanned at checkpoints. This will help prevent traffic bottlenecks and enable the monitoring of travel between pandemic-hit and safe regions, even at the communal level. Absolute privacy of citizen information is guaranteed.'

Information that a citizen has declared on apps of the Ministry of Information and Communications will be automatically integrated with their personal QR code. Medical information and travel information will be used only for the purpose of pandemic control and will be secured.
