Vietnam has 80 18-hole golf courses in operation. There are many high-end golf courses designed by world-famous golfers based on the topographical features and natural and cultural resources to attract people who love to conquer unique golf courses.
In 2019 and 2021, the World Golf Organization selected Vietnam as "the best golf destination in the world and in Asia".
Golf tourists coming to Vietnam are mainly from South Korea, Japan, and some Southeast Asian nations. Experts say that Vietnam has huge potential to attract tourists from the US and Western Europe.
Pham Thanh Tri, Deputy Head of the Vietnam Golf Tourism Association, said: “We plan to organize tours for domestic golfers. Golf courses will offer the most incentive fees to attract visitors. We are waiting for the Korean market to fully open and expecting to welcome about 600,000 to 700,000 customers in the next 6 to 8 months.”
In order to effectively develop golf tourism, it’s necessary to have a long-term overall strategy for all businesses with specific roadmaps. Travel businesses play an important role in the strategy because they will connect airlines, golf courses, destinations, restaurants, and hotels.
Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said: “We need to create favorable policies and conditions for tourism in general and golf tourism in particular. We have the Golf Association and the Golf Tourism Association. These policies will benefit the Associations and businesses in this field and address their difficulties.”
Golf is predicted to become a popular global entertainment with new markets in Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe. Gold tourism is identified as a major orientation for Vietnam's tourism industry in the coming years.
