This is the first time a Vietnamese commercial bank has set a foothold in the United States, which affirms its stature as well as position and marks another strategic step in Vietcombank's strategy to expand its network overseas.

Located in One Rockefeller Plaza in Midtown Manhattan, Vietcombank’s representative office was licensed by the New York State Department of Financial Services last year.

Tran Viet Anh, Vice Director of Vietcombank Securities Company, is appointed Head of the New York Office. The office will connect with existing and promising clients in the US and make market analysis reports. Attending the inaugural ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador and Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the UN Dang Dinh Quy said Vietcombank’s presence in the US has motivated Vietnamese businesses to develop, contributing to Vietnam’s prosperity and status.

The New York office will join the bank’s existing international network which consists of a finance company in Hong Kong, a remittance company in the US, a representative office in Singapore, and a subsidiary bank in Laos. Last month, the State Bank of Vietnam approved Vietcombank to open a branch in Australia.

The event proves Vietcombank’s effort towards the goal of becoming the top bank in Vietnam, one of the top 100 in Asia, one of the world’s top 300 financial-banking groups, and one of the world’s 1,000 biggest listed firms globally, as set in its development strategy to 2025 with a vision to 2030.
