Vietnam marks Information Security Day 2019

(VOVWORLD) - The 12th anniversary of the annual Vietnam Information Security Day was celebrated last Thursday in Ho Chi Minh City, and one week later in Hanoi. Organizers are the Vietnam Information Security Association, Authority of Information Security of the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Cyberspace Operations Command of the Ministry of National Defense.

This year’s event in Ho Chi Minh City provided the participants an overview of the information security situation in Vietnam and the world with an analysis on malware, the spread of malware, cyber attacks and measures to deal with them. The Vietnam Information Security Association also reported on the status of information security in the south, based on surveys of 160 agencies, businesses, and organizations.

The day will be marked in Hanoi Thursday, highlighting an international conference on Vietnam’s information security. Vu Quoc Thanh, Deputy Chairman and Secretary General of  the Vietnam Information Security Association, said: "This year’s conference is themed “Enhancing National Cybersecurity in the Digital Era”. The conference will analyze the government’s vision and strategies for a more secure cyberspace in Vietnam while seeking ways to build an e-government. Security experts will share their experience and discuss security solutions and policies. On this occasion, an information security monitoring system will be launched to boost the development of e-government."

Other highlights of the event include a Vietnam-Israel technology symposium and a contest on information security for university and college students, held annually for the last 12 years. This year’s competition will feature for the first time 12 teams from Vietnam and 5 teams from other Southeast Asian countries. The organizers will honour Vietnam’s best information security products and services of 2019 in 3 categories: “high-quality information security products”, “excellent new information security products”, and “outstanding information security services”.
