The military parade to commemorate the Dien Bien Phu victory will involve more than 12,000 participants, including members of the armed forces, militias, war veterans, youth volunteers, and people from all walks of life.

75-year-old Vu Dinh Cac, a war veteran, said: "I’m very proud that, at my age, I can still participate in the parade. It’s a great honor for me. I feel stronger."

Colonel Nguyen Van Tan, Political Commissar of Infantry Division 312, said: "Officers and soldiers of the Division are proud to have been assigned to participate in the military parade and are determined to do it with honor. Our Division’s predecessors participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign and were the ones who captured General De Castries."

The ceremony will feature 9 helicopters of the Air Defense Force, which will perform complex maneuvers with large flags.

Colonel Nguyen Chien Thang of Air Force Regiment 917,  said: "Maneuvering with such a large crew is a complicated task requiring thorough and meticulous calculation. The speed of the aircraft, steering and navigation, weather conditions, and crew composition all need to be carefully thought out."

The celebration and the parades will be broadcast live on the Voice of Vietnam, on Vietnam Television, and on local radio and television stations.
