(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Monday attended the Partnering for Green Growth and Global Goals 2030 summit at the invitation of Republic of Korea President Moon Jae-in. Mr. Chinh’s participation at the virtual summit reflects Vietnam’s responsible contribution to promoting sustainable development, green growth, and climate change response.

This year, the Partnering for Green Growth and Global Goals (P4G) Summit, initiated in 2017 by the Danish government, is of particular importance now that climate change response and green recovery have become top priorities of countries around the world.
P4G encourages action for climate
Following the Summit on Climate Change hosted on April 22 by US President Joe Biden, the 2030 P4G Summit will motivate and promote determined commitments by the international community and prepare for COP 26 this November.
The Republic of Korea hopes the P4G Summit this year will help resolve serious global challenges and promote collaborative Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) for Green Growth between developed and developing countries.
Themed “Inclusive green recovery toward carbon-neutrality”, the summit focused on green recovery from COVID-19, international efforts to achieve carbon neutrality goals by 2050, enhancing climate response actions, and facilitating PPP.
The discussion also focused on food and agriculture, clean water, clean energy, green technology, green finance, smart city management, the circular economy, the marine economy, biodiversity, and business connectivity.
Vietnam – founder and important contributor
Vietnam was one of 7 countries that founded the P4G forum in July 2017. At the first P4G Summit in 2018 in Denmark, the Vietnamese Prime Minister delivered a keynote speech.
Over the past few years, Vietnam has contributed significantly to international climate change response and green recovery efforts. In his speech at the Climate Change Summit hosted by the US President in April, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc pledged to take resolute action to cope with climate change. In March, the Vietnamese PM approved a project to develop climate-resilient urban areas in Vietnam in the 2021-2030 period.
Vietnam’s participation in the P4G Summit affirmed once again its sense of responsibility for sustainable development, green growth, and climate change response. Through this event, Vietnam hopes to promote international cooperation in trade, investment, the environment, renewable energy, sustainable development, and climate change response in the Mekong Delta region. Vietnam also wants to continue to accelerate its strategic partnership with the Republic of Korea.
