Foreign visitors’ searches for trips to Vietnam have increased 4 times since the reopening of the tourism sector, according to a report from Google Destination Insights.

The report shows that the search volume for accommodation has increased sharply to 48 points in April against 25 points in March and continued to increase in the following months, reaching 78 points in May, 98 points in June, and 100 points in early July, 4 times higher than the pre-reopening for foreign visitors.

The similar growing trend has been reported for the search volume for international flights to Vietnam. By early this month, the search volume has tripled that in early March.

The trends have been reflected in the growing number of visitors to Vietnam in the past few months.

According to the General Statistics Office, more than 600,000 foreign visitors arrived in Vietnam in the first half of this year, up 582% from last year. In June alone, nearly 240,000 visitors came to Vietnam, 6 times compared to March. Though the number is not so high but the growth rate has shown positive signs for strong recovery of the tourism sector in the coming time.

The number of Vietnamese tourists going overseas is recovering. Destinations in Asia, particularly in Southeast Asia, are most searched for by Vietnamese visitors. The US, Australia, and Europe are also on their list thanks to more open policies. With the growing number of tourists, a record number of new travel companies have been established. Meanwhile, nearly 2,400 tourism businesses have resumed operation in the first half of this year, up 63.5% from last year.
