Vietnam’s tourism surges during National Day holiday

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s National Day holiday lasted from September 1st to the 4th. Localities organized activities to attract visitors and reached their attendance and revenue targets.

Every year on National Day, September 2nd, local ethnic people and tourists attend the National Day celebration and the Moc Chau Tourism and Culture Week on Moc Chau plateau in Son La province. The highlight of the Moc Chau Tourism and Culture Week is a series of cultural heritages performances, including the Maturity Ritual of the Dao, the Khen panpipe dance of the Mong, and the Xoe dance of the Thai.  

Haruna Abe Hana, a Japanese tourist, said: “I’m very happy to be here for the Moc Chau Culture Week. I admire the beautiful ethnic costumes and folk art performances. They are very special.”

In Ho Chi Minh City, hundreds of Vietnamese and foreigners visited the Independence Palace during the National Day Holiday.

68-year-old Nguyen Viet Duc from Dak Lak province said: “I felt a surge of emotion when I recalled my memories. When I was in the army, we were in charge of the takeover of the Independence Palace. I’m very happy to visit this place again on National Day.”

Other places in Ho Chi Minh City, such as the Botanical Garden and Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Park, also welcomed a large number of visitors. Suoi Tien Park received around 70,000 visitors who came to see cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Cuba, India, Malaysia, and Thailand.

The Ba Ria-Vung Tau Tourism Department reported that coastal localities fully exploited their advantages to attract tourists. During the 4-day holiday, Ba Ria-Vung Tau received 535,000 visitors, an increase of 36% from last year, and earned more than 12 million USD.

In Quang Binh province, hotels, homestays, farmstays, and other accommodations reported an average room occupancy of 80%. On September 1st and 2nd, room capacity reached 95%. Quang Binh province welcomed 160,000 tourists, 60% more than last year's holiday and earned 7.3 million USD, up 53% from last year.

The National Day holiday is the last event of the summer tourism season. Many hotels in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province, reported room occupancy rate of 80 to 90%. The number of Chinese tourists has rebounded. Nha Trang has welcomed 5 million tourists since the beginning of the year, earning 996 million USD, which is already close to its yearly target.
