Over the past 2 decades, nationwide blood donation drives have delivered crucial social benefits. Donated blood has increased year after year. Last year 1.6 million units of bloods were collected.

Doctor Bach Quoc Khanh, Director of the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, said: “Voluntary Blood Donation Day is a highlight in the national voluntary blood donation campaign. On this day, many more people donate their blood. After the Spring Blood Donation Festival, we always have sufficient inventory of blood and by-products. Our store currently has about 10,000 units of blood.”

Donating blood is a generous act which should be encouraged. Donors share the same purpose: to give their blood to people who desperately need it. If they are healthy, they want to give their blood. The number of blood donors keeps increasing year after year.

Bui Van Hanh is receiving a blood transfusion:  “I’m grateful to the people who have donated blood so people like me can live longer,” Hanh said.

Since the launch of Voluntary Blood Donation Day, donors have given millions of units of blood. Blood donation drives have spread a spirit of brotherly love throughout society.
