(VOVworld) – VOV World Service (VOV5) has launched a fundraising campaign in Hanoi to support flood victims in the central region.

All VOV5 staff, contributors, and foreign experts donated 900 USD at the launch ceremony on October 19. VOV5’s Director Nguyen Tien Long said this activity is in response to the campaign “For our beloved central region” launched by Radio the Voice of Vietnam on October 18 to help disadvantaged people overcome the aftermaths of natural disasters.

As well as updating information on the flood and its consequences on both radio and the website at vovworld.vn, VOV5 has also opened a bank account to call on foreign friends, overseas Vietnamese, and philanthropists to give helping hands to people affected in the flood-hit areas.
