Mong ethnic people welcome Lunar New Year

(VOVWORLD) - The traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) of the Mong in Moc Chau District, Son La province, 320 km west of Hanoi, comes a month before that of the majority Kinh people. It falls on the first day of the 12th lunar month, on January 13 this year.

Nowadays most Mong people begin celebrating Tet on the last day of the 12th lunar month like the Kinh people do, except for a small number of Mong in Moc Chau, who still celebrate the Mong Tet in addition to the more popular Tet 29 days later.
