1,000 singers attend Vietnam International Choir Competition

(VOVWORLD) - 1,000 singers from 10 countries and territories around the world have come to the 5th Vietnam International Choir Competition, which opened on Wednesday in Hoi An city, Quang Nam province.

The competition, held by Germany’s Interkultur organisation and the People’s Committee of Hoi An city, is part of the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017. At opening ceremony, Le Van Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee, said: “The competition will produce interesting performances embracing the cultures of different countries, promote choir and chamber music, and boost Hoi An’s development. The competition will also enhance friendship between Hoi An and other localities inside and outside Vietnam.”

Raymond is a member of the Indonesian delegation at the event: “My name is Raymond, I am from Jakarta, Indonesia. We came by a group of choir, which is called Smugglaz choir, so we came here as students, but we also sing and join the international competition”.

The five-day competition aims to promote the culture, heritage, and tourism potential of Quang Nam while introducing choir performances to the public. It is also an opportunity for Vietnamese and foreign singers to share their experience.
