In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said patriotic emulation movements in response to President Ho Chi Minh’s appeal 72 years ago have helped advance Vietnam toward prosperity, strength, democracy, fairness, and civilization.

Emulation activities, devotions, and even sacrifices at all levels and sectors have fortified Vietnam’s status, potential, and prestige. The more Vietnamese people engage in emulation movements, the more exemplary models made their debut, said Prime Minister Phuc.

“We have seen heart-warming acts and outstanding individuals, who might be a soldier, an elder, or a kid, spreading their kindness to other people in the hard time of natural disasters and pandemic. Their acts have touched others from the rest of the world. Emulation movements have contributed substantially to the great national unity, inspired the pride in every Vietnamese person, and fueled their aspiration to move on. Their unyielding spirit to rise up is the engine for Vietnam’s development,” according to Mr. Phuc.

At the congress, Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong underscored the importance of emulations movements, in which Vietnamese people showcase their creativity and innovations to champion the past revolutions and present renewal (Doi Moi) period.

He said: “Ministries, sectors, localities, and all people are encouraged to seize the opportunities brought about by the 4th Industrial Revolution and the shift in trade and investment to realize all our targets and the 5-year socio-economic development plan by 2025. Emulation movements should integrate the political and economic missions of each unit while embracing the creativity and diversification of participants for a balanced interest of all.”
