12th Party Central Committee convenes 8th session

(VOVWORLD) - The 12th Party Central Committee convened its eighth session on Tuesday to review the 10-year implementation of a Party resolution on Vietnam's Maritime Strategy until 2020.

Reports on Vietnam’s socio-economic situation and budget implementation in 2018 and plans for 2019 are also on the agenda. The session is slated to examine draft regulations related to the responsibility of Party members and officials for setting an example.

“The Politburo and the Party Central Committee have agreed on the need to issue a regulation requiring Party members and officials to set an example, especially Politburo members, members of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat and the Party Central Committee. The regulation needs to be precise and easy to enforce,” said Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Journalist Ha Dang, former Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education said: “All Party members and officials, not only members of the Politburo, the Party Secretariat, and the Party Central Committee, but also leaders of provincial and local Party Committee, need to strictly follow the regulation on setting an example. This is the discipline of the Party. I believe this will help the Party Central Committee prepare for the next National Party Congress.”

Personnel work and the establishment of sub-committees in preparation for the 13th Party Congress will also be discussed during the session.
