13th National Assembly’s 5th session concluded

(VOVworld) – The 5th session of the 13th National Assembly wrapped up on Friday after one month of sessions. Attending the closing session were Party Leader Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, and 500 deputies.

Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung reviewed highlights at the 5th session. The deputies discussed the implementation of the socio-economic development last year and in the first half of this year. Mr. Hung said: "The National Assembly asks the Government at all levels, sectors, and localities to focus on implementing a proposal Project to comprehensively reform the economy, create positive changes in all aspects, gradually resolve obstacles and boost production and trading, ensure a stable macro-economy, reduce inventories and bad debts, generate more jobs, guarantee social security, and fulfill the major targets of this year’s national socio-economic development plan to boost the outlook for the implementation of the 5-year socio-economic development plan from 2011-2016."

The deputies debated the draft revisions to the 1992 Constitution in a democratic manner and with a high sense of responsibility. "The National Assembly asks the Committee for Drafting the revisions to the 1992 Constitution to continue to collect the recommendations of National Assembly deputies and people until September 30th to complete the final version before submitting it to the National Assembly’s 6th session for approval. With the resolute determination of the Party and people, we will build a Constitution that reflects the will and aspiration of the people and meets the requirements of national construction and defense in this new period." said Hung.

Mr. Hung said the vote of confidence for 47 posts elected and approved by the National Assembly was a good experience for government agencies and the People’s Councils at all levels to draw from in the future.

The question and answer sessions were conducted publicly with constructive and responsible dialogues. The National Assembly adopted 9 laws and debated some draft laws which are of great importance in boosting society and the economy, science and technology, national defense, and sustainable development.

Before the closing session, the National Assembly passed a resolution to extend the duration of annual cultivation land, aquaculture land, and salt lands for households and individuals. The deputies approved a resolution on supervising the Law on Practicing Thrift and Combating Waste in using government bonds for civil construction in the 2006-2012 period and a resolution on the Q&A sessions.
