Vi Duong Phong, a student of the Thai ethnic group at Nghe An Ethnic Boarding High School in Nghe An province, created a project to produce brocade fabric from banana peels and other plants. This earned him a Gold Medal and Special Award at the International Scientific Invention Olympiad in South Korea.
Phong said: "I’m proud and happy to attend this meaningful ceremony. I will try to develop products to help my hometown become richer, stronger, and more renowned, and in the future I will strive to preserve and promote national identity."
