The US has been the nation hardest-hit by the coronavirus. Asia is the continent with the most cases – 60 million. Thousands of new cases are being confirmed every day in Southeast Asian countries.

The World Health Organization reported on Wednesday that the Delta variant, which was first detected in India, has spread to 124 countries and territories. The Delta variant has been found in 75% of samples taken for genome sequence analysis in major countries. In its weekly report, the WHO said the Delta variant will rapidly out-compete other strains and become the dominant circulating variant over the coming months. The number of cases reported globally will exceed 200 million in the next three weeks, says the WHO.
