(VOV) – The 1^st Asia – Europe New Music Festival in Vietnam kicked off at Hanoi Opera House on Wednesday evening. The biannual event draws the participation of hundreds of famous musicians and artists of Vietnam, Asia and Europe.


The festival will feature various genres including auditorium, traditional music, opera, ballet, and chorus. Composer Nguyen Van Nam said participating compositions must be new and show the musician's typical style: "I composed the song “Moonlight in the Thap Muoi in the memory of soldiers who laid down their lives during the war. My father and his comrades sacrificed in 1951 in Dong Thap Muoi. I wrote the song with my whole heart and love to express my gratitude for our predecessors and for the homeland."
The festival will last until this Sunday in Hanoi and Quang Ninh.
