(VOVworld)- Spring Flower Festival 2013 themed ‘The country’s position and people’s will,” opened in Tao Dan Park, Ho Chi Minh City yesterday. Organized by the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the 12-day event features more than 8,000 exhibits including various kinds of bonsai and flowers, rock sculptures, and ornamental fish and birds. The highlight of the festival is a pair of 80 m long dragons made of gold flowers, a replica of terraced fields, a statue of a Vietnamese woman with colorful flowers and 6 snakes made of fresh flower petals. Tran Thien Ha, Director of HCM City’s Tree and Park Company, the festival’s Deputy Chief Organizer says: "This year, in addition to areas for artisans to show their talents, we have reserved one section with the theme “Vietnam posture” featuring the soldiers who leave their home village to defend the country and they are the one who create the Vietnam posture. Police forces have been deployed to maintain security for the festival".

The city has also organized three large-scale flower markets this year at major parks. About 1,400 stalls are selling flowers from different regions of the country.
