2016 National Tourism Year launched

(VOVworld) – The 2016 National Tourism Year: Phu Quoc and the Mekong River Delta began in Ha Tien town, Kien Giang province on Monday. Last year, Vietnam welcomed 8 million foreign arrivals and served 57 million domestic tourists earning more than 330 trillion VND.

The organization of the national tourism year aims to promote local tourism potentials and services as well as improve people’s awareness on tourism development. Quang Xuan Lua is Deputy Director of Kien Giang Tourism and Trade Promotion Center:  “This year, we will issue a number of tourist publications and participate in international tourism fairs to promote Vietnam’s tourism. In addition to attracting domestic tourists, we aim to increase the number of foreign tourists. We will introduce the beauty of Kien Giang province, its scenic spots, culture, and people”.
At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Vo Tuan Nhan presented a Ramsar certificate to the U Minh Thuong National Park. U Minh Thuong has the tropical wetlands biodiversity which is very rare in the world. It’s Vietnam’s 8th Ramsar recognized internationally.
