(VOVworld) – The 2017 Ban Flower Festival and the 5th Culture, Sports, and Tourism Day opened in Dien Bien province on Sunday, attended by National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

At the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Dien Bien Provincial People’s Committee Mua A Son, said: “The Ban Flower Festival is held in mid-March annually coinciding with the anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu campaign, a glorious milestone in Vietnam’s history of national construction and defense. We want to honor, preserve, and promote cultural heritages, and introduce Dien Bien’s land and people to domestic and foreign visitors through festival activities.”
The 3-day festival includes a photo exhibition, an exhibition of the traditional culture of ethnic groups, folk song performances, and a beauty contest.
On Sunday, NA Chairwoman Ngan presented gifts to Tay Trang International border gate, and authorities and policy beneficiaries in Noong Het commune. She also visited the Noong Bua resettlement and some cultural and historical relic sites in Dien Bien province.
