In an interview with VOV, Mr. Son said: “The channels of policy exchange and dialogue between the two government agencies have developed comprehensively, particularly since the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA). On that basis, we have built a comprehensive action plan to develop Vietnam-US trade relations in a balanced and sustainable way for the first time. Secondly, the US has officially recognized the equivalency of the catfish quality control system in Vietnam and in the US. The US used a catfish monitoring program to test close to 100% of shipments from Vietnam. Thirdly, import and export activities between Vietnam and the US boomed this year, with a total turnover of 68.8 billion USD, up more than 24%.”

Minister Counselor Son said the outlook for Vietnam-US trade relations in 2020 is bright, particularly with the two countries celebrating 25 years of normalized relations next year.
