21 dead, 14 missing in central Vietnam floods

(VOVWORLD) - As of Monday afternoon, authorities had reported 20 deaths and 14 missing in Vietnam’s central region.

Quang Tri, Quang Binh, Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, and Gia Lai have been devastated by floods. Heavy rains damaged 14,500 hectares of crops and nearly 1,000 hectares of aquaculture. 26,000 houses and schools are at least a meter under water.

Localities and the army have mobilized rescue forces and rescue transportation to help flood victims. 15,000 families have been evacuated to safe shelters.
