(VOVworld)- The 24th ASEAN Summit opened in Nay Pyi Taw capital city of Myanmar on Sunday. Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and senior leaders of other ASEAN countries attended the event. With the theme “Moving Forward in Unity towards a Peaceful and Prosperous community”, the Summit will include plenary, retreat and closing sessions as well as meetings between ASEAN senior leaders and representatives of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, and the Youth and Civil Society Organization. The summit will discussed the roadmap of building an ASEAN Community by 2015 as well as ASEAN Community’s foreign relations. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and leaders of other ASEAN countries will also discuss regional and global issues of mutual concerns including the East Sea situation.

On Saturday, the ASEAN Foreign Ministerial Meeting, the 11th Meeting of ASEAN Political- Security Community Council and the 14th ASEAN Coordination Council were held. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh led a Vietnamese delegation to attend the meetings.
