(VOVWORLD) - A meeting was held in Hanoi on Tuesday to mark the 25th anniversary of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on April 7.

Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ha Thanh, told the event that voluntary blood donation has become a widespread movement in society.
"Thanks to the voluntary blood donation movement, tens of thousands of patients have been saved. In 2024, a record-breaking 1.7 million blood units were donated. This year, we will continue to collaborate with agencies and organizations to promote blood donation and ensure a sufficient blood supply for hospitals."
Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, Nguyen Hai Anh, said, "We’ll continue to organize voluntary blood donation campaigns in a more scientific manner. We will enhance the use of technology in communication activities and blood donation organization to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. We’ll try to diversify blood donors, establish a network of regular blood donors and repeat donors, and promptly honor exemplary individuals."
