(VOVWORLD) - As Chairman of the Red Cross Society of Phu Thu Ward, Cai Rang District, Can Tho City since 2021, Ngo Hoang Tam has followed the teaching of President Ho Chi Minh “do whatever is best for the people,” and mobilized resources to implement social welfare policies in the locality, so that those in difficult circumstances can improve their lives.

Tam used to be Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and also led the Mass Mobilization Division of Phu Thu Ward. Since 2021, as Chairman of Phu Thu’s Red Cross Society, he has worked with the organization’s members and local branches to raise awareness and rally philanthropists to support those in need.
Tam said, the key to gaining benefactors’ trust and support is sincerity and concrete results through real actions. He has connected many people in difficult circumstances with help, easing their struggles.
In 2024, the Red Cross Society of Phu Thu Ward raised approximately 14,000 USD for humanitarian works, initiated exemplary humanitarian models, such as distributing free meals and fresh produce, organizing free medical check-ups, and collecting and distributing medicinal herbs.
During the 2024 "Humanitarian Month", Phu Thu’s Red Cross Society also partnered with other organizations to conduct free medical check-ups, distribute medicine, provide gifts and support people with terminal diseases, with a total budget of 4,000 USD.
Ngo Hoang Tam has played an active role in all of these achievements, and has proactively advised local authorities to strengthen the committee for voluntary blood donation advocacy, developed plans, and directed grassroots branches and teams to work closely with local officials to meet annual targets.
His efforts have earned the trust and admiration of local residents and the support of authorities. Tam said “We need consensus in everything we do. Our activities are only effective if there is support from officials, members, and residents. I myself must set an example in all of our activities and serve as a 'bridge' between benefactors and humanitarian causes, thereby helping those in hardship rise above their challenges in life.”
