25th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting approves Da Nang declaration
(VOVWORLD) - President Tran Dai Quang says that the 25th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting has approved the Da Nang declaration “Creating new dynamism, fostering a shared future.” President Quang, who chaired a media conference on Saturday in Da Nang city, described the declaration as the important outcome of the Meeting and the APEC Year 2017.

In the declaration, APEC leaders reiterated their resolve to maintain cooperation and connectivity within APEC amid regional and global profound changes. APEC promotes trade liberalization, investment facilitation, quality growth, and international integration capacity of member economies. APEC leaders agreed on the need to sustain new cooperation for APEC after 2020 to prepare for the 4th decade of APEC and the realization of Bogor Goals: “For APEC to remain a driver of regional connectivity and for Asia-Pacific to be a driver of growth and global economic connectivity, the Meeting reconfirms commitments to finalizing Bogor Goals on trade and investment liberalization as well as investment, business, and service facilitation; strengthening economic-technological cooperation towards establishing the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP). The meeting welcomes the approval of the APEC Framework to facilitate transnational ecommerce to enable APEC to make full use of cyber economy, digital economy, supply chains, and global value chains.”
The President said that APEC leaders highly appreciated the establishment of an APEC Vision Group to support senior officials in defining the future path of the APEC Forum after 2020. The decision reflects APEC economies’ determination to build an Asia-Pacific of peace, stability, dynamism, integration and prosperity with the people and businesses placed in the center.
President Tran Dai Quang said that over the past days, Vietnam in general and Da Nang City and Quang Nam province in particular, have welcomed more than 10,000 APEC delegates, leaders of major groups and representatives of international organizations to the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week. Nearly 3,000 reporters from media agencies in Vietnam and from the rest of the world have come here to cover the events: “The success of the Vietnam 2017 APEC Year and APEC Economic Leaders’ Week are attributable to your important contributions. Earlier, President Tran Dai Quang chaired the closing session of the 25th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting and a ceremony to hand over APEC 2018 presidency to Papua New Guinea.
