28th Informatics Olympics for students opens in Da Nang

(VOVWORLD) - About 700 IT students from Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, China, Indonesia, and Myanmar competing at the 28th Informatics Olympics, which opens in Da Nang city on Wednesday.

Tran Phuc Khang, a student at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Pedagogy, told VOV: “I’m not an IT student. But by participating in this event, I will gain more experience for my teaching career.”

After the contest, held until Saturday, the winners will represent Vietnam at the International Olympiad in Informatics in Moscow next June.

Nguyen Long, Secretary General of the Vietnam Informatics Association, said the contestants take the exams on an automatic system. He added: “Regional certificates are valuable. The winners can use the certificates to find post-graduate scholarships or apply to top IT companies. We hope Vietnamese students will win more prizes in the future.”
