Since the 1st DPRK-US Summit in Singapore in June 2018, the Hanoi Summit is expected to produce pragmatic and specific results of denuclearizing the Korean peninsula and releasing an official statement to put an end to the Korean War (1950-1953). Over the past 8 months, both Washington and Pyongyang have taken steps towards settling lasting differences. Several points of their June 12 Joint Statement have been implemented, including the repatriation of POW/MIA remains. Experts said that at the Hanoi Summit both leaders will focus on Pyongyang’s specific steps towards denuclearization and reciprocal measures from Washington like easing sanctions and improving bilateral ties.
