The meeting was co-chaired by Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang and Malaysia’s Minister of International Trade and Industry, Dato’Sri Mustapa Mohamed. The two sides discussed bilateral trade ties and measures to boost cooperation and trade to make full use of each country’s potentials. Mr. Vu Huy Hoang: "Since the first meeting in 2009, Vietnam-Malaysia comprehensive cooperation in politics, economics and trade has seen remarkable progress. The two countries enjoy good political relations marked by frequent meetings between senior leaders including state-level visits by State President Truong Tan Sang to Malaysia in 2011, and a meeting between Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Malaysian counterpart on the sideline of the 21st ASEAN Summit last November in Cambodia. Vietnam-Malaysia relations continue to flourish this year when the two countries will mark the 40th anniversary of their diplomatic ties".

The participants acknowledged the significance of their trade policies and agreed to boost cooperation in trade, investment, industry, and agriculture, and to open markets for each other’s products. The two sides also agreed to build a mechanism for sharing information and cooperatively investigate cases of trade protection.
