(VOVWorld) – On Friday Myanmar’s Lower House confirmed Htin Kyaw of the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD) as one of three finalist candidates for Myanmar’s presidency.

With 274 of the total 317 votes in the lower house of parliament, Htin Kyaw defeated Dr. Sai Mauk Kham of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP).

The House of Nationalities (Upper House) also nominated Henry Van Htee Yu, also a member of the NLD, as the second candidate to run for the presidential election.

The third candidate is Myint Swe of the military-assigned representatives in the federal parliament.
