(VOVworld) – A meeting to mark the 37th anniversary of the South’s Liberation and National Reunification and 10 years of development in the Mekong Delta was held today in Can Tho city.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh spoke highly of the region’s achievements and pointed out pending issues that need to be resolved by cooperating Ministries and sectors to make the Mekong Delta region a major economic hub. Tran Thanh Man, Secretary of Can Tho’s Municipal Party Committee said: "The Municipal Party Committee, authorities and people of the Mekong Delta need to unite and do more to develop the region into a key economic hub in the South, which will make a larger contribution to the national economy".
A conference on investment promotion for the development of the Mekong Delta region also took place today. It was an opportunity for domestic and foreign investors to learn more about the development potential of the Mekong region. Around 178 key projects were introduced to potential investors.
In Hanoi, the Management Board of Hoa Lo prison yesterday held a contest on the history of Hoa Lo prison to educate Hanoi’s young people about the history of the prison and encourage their patriotism.
The same day, the Southern province of Dong Thap organized a photo contest which displayed some 140 photographic images of Vietnam’s land and people during the process of integration and development.
