37th ASEAN Summit to be held online on November 12-15
(VOVWORLD) - The 37th ASEAN Summit, the last and most important event of the ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2020, will be held online from November 12 to 15, said Deputy Foreign Ministry spokesperson Duong Hoai Nam on Thursday.

Nam said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will chair the Summit and related meetings. A Summit of ASEAN Female leaders, ASEAN Investment Business Summit, and East Asia Business Summit will be held on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit.
Mr. Nam said: "At this summit, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, ASEAN leaders, and partners will discuss the implementation of the ASEAN Community, finalize ASEAN’s initiative priorities, ways to boost ASEAN’s partnership and ASEAN’s central role, particular in the context of spreading COVID-19."
Nam said this year ASEAN has brought into play solidarity, cohesiveness and responsiveness and completed its dual task of containing the epidemic and promoting comprehensive recovery. ASEAN has basically completed priorities and initiatives for 2020 as scheduled including a mid-term review of their Community Vision 2025, review of ASEAN Charter, release of the Hanoi Declaration on ASEAN Community Vision 2025, and integration of sub-region development building ASEAN Community to achieve the goal of sustainable development.
Regarding COVID-19 response initiatives, Nam said the ASEAN Fund for COVID-19 Response received 10 million USD from ASEAN countries and partners while ASEAN’s Reserve of Medical Supplies, Standard Operation Procedures for Public Health Emergencies, and Emergency Operation Center will be introduced at the 37th ASEAN Summit.
