40,000 health insurance participants use chip-based ID card for treatment
(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam Social Insurance has linked the database of 40 million health insurance participants with the national database on population and has reported 40,000 searches. This is the initial result of piloting the use of chip-based citizen identification cards in medical examination and treatment covered by health insurance.

Given data integration, 40 million health insurance participants can use their ID cards or chip-based ID cards when undergoing medical examination and treatment.
According to Vietnam Social Security, information authentication via ID cards with chip is still being processed, so for people who have their first examination at the hospital or have not been issued ID cards with chip, they need to bring their health insurance card, smartphone with VssID application installed with photo identification.
The national electronic identification application of the Ministry of Public Security plans to replace paper health insurance cards by an electronic version from now until the end of 2022.
