4th World Conference of OVs opens in Hanoi

(VOVWORLD) - The fourth World Conference of Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) and the Forum of OV Intellectuals and Experts 2024 opened in Hanoi on Wednesday drawing 600 delegates from Vietnam and abroad.

Themed "Overseas Vietnamese join hands to realize the aspiration for national development", the conference discusses regional and global development trends, as well as challenges and opportunities for Vietnam.

High on the agenda are also the role of the overseas Vietnamese community in high-tech development, economic growth, national unity, and the promotion of Vietnamese culture and language.

Le Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairwoman of the Ministry’s State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, said: "This conference takes place in the context of Vietnam’s improved status and increased engagement and awareness of authorities and people. The Vietnamese community abroad has witnessed changes and so has the development of science and technology.  The conference has a quite ambitious agenda, ranging across technology, high technology, culture, association activities, youth activities, and resource attraction."

Tran Le Hung, OV delegate in France, said: "The conference is the main channel for discussions to support Vietnam and fellow Vietnamese. All overseas Vietnamese aspire that Vietnam will continue to grow and prosper."
