The Singaporean Ministry of Transport said flight SQ321 experienced a rapid change in G (gravitational) force.

Vertical acceleration changed from -1.5G to +1.5G within 4 seconds, prompting unbelted passengers to quickly become airborne and to fall back down and “likely caused the injuries to the crew and passengers,” according to the report.

The 45 people who were aboard the flight are still in Bangkok, including 28 passengers who are receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.

Singapore Airlines expressed its condolences for one passenger who died following the incident and pledged to support all those affected by the incident.
