(VOVworld) – Vietnam’s fisheries sector has in the past 56 years become a spearhead of the national economy, according to Bui Duc Quy, Head of the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Quy told a Radio the Voice of Vietnam reporter on the 56th anniversary of the Fisheries sector on Wednesday: “Vietnam’s tra fish and shrimp products are shipped to more than 160 countries and territories. Shrimp exports are a hard currency earner, generating jobs for 3 million rural laborers. Aquaculture has grown steadily over the last 10 years. Aquaculture output has increased from 590,000 tons in 2010 to nearly 6 million tons today.”
