58 victims of crashed Russian plane identified

(VOVworld) - The Russian Health Ministry has confirmed that 58 of the 224 people who perished in the passenger jet crash on Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula on October 31 have been identified.

Russian first Deputy Minister of Healthcare Igor Kagramanyan said a mobile medical laboratory has been deployed in Saint-Petersburg and 10 rescue teams are in place for identifying victims and providing medical care to their relatives.

Russian Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Puchkov said an investigation of the crash site would be completed by Thursday.

Meanwhile, Egypt and Russia rejected a suggestion by British and US security officials, that the passenger jet exploded in the sky because of a terrorist bomb. At a press conference, spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova said the Ministry was displeased and surprised since the Britain does not share with Russia information which might reveal the cause of the incident.
