6 million Vietnamese have COVID-19 vaccine passports

(VOVWORLD) - About 6 million Vietnamese people have been given electronic vaccine passports as of May 6th.

The Information Technology Department of the Ministry of Health reported that the number increased by 2.5 million from a week ago.

The QR code of the vaccine passport has a validity of 12 months from the date confirmed by the Ministry of Health. When it expires, the owner will be notified and be able to generate a new valid QR code. This is a technical solution to ensure safety and information security.

Vietnam has reached agreements on mutual recognition of vaccine passports with 19 countries, including many countries with a high number of Vietnamese people entering and leaving such as Japan, the US, Singapore, and South Korea.

According to the Ministry of Health, those who have been vaccinated, have their data updated on the vaccination system, and verified by the National Population Database, will receive a vaccination confirmation number without having to do any further procedures.

People can check their vaccine passport number on mobile apps - Sổ Sức khỏe điện tử or PC-COVID – or on website of the Ministry of Health which will be available in a short time.
