(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam inspected COVID-19 prevention and control in the southern province of Tien Giang, where there have been reports about the decline of infection cases.

The provincial Command for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said the province has more than 9,000 people recovered from the disease, accounting for nearly 73% of the total number of cases, and the mortality rate is 2.5%. Four of the 11 districts and towns in Tien Giang have not recorded new cases in the community in the past seven days.

Deputy Prime Minister Dam acknowledged the province’s efforts, especially social security packages. He asked Tien Giang to keep each commune, ward and town as a "fortress" in the fight against pandemic and continue to monitor disease developments to return to the "new normal".
