(VOVworld) - Hanoi’s Military Command has held a meeting with veterans to celebrate the 70^th anniversary of Vietnam People’s Army. They recalled the glorious history of the army in national construction and defense. General Phi Quoc Tuan is the commander of the capital city’s armed forces:“Hanoi capital city’s armed forces are thankful to sacrifices by the predecessors. We pledged to continue with the glorious progress of the army in the future.”
Ho Chi Minh City held an exhibition on the 70 years of Vietnam People’s Army to mark the celebration.
The Vietnamese Embassy and military attaché office in the US held a celebration on Wednesday. Ambassador Pham Quang Vinh praised the development of the army and its multifaceted cooperation with countries for peace and prosperity. The army has set up national defense relations with 80 countries and opened attaché offices in 29 countries. Vietnam has recently participated in the United Nations peace keeping forces. Ambassador Vinh said he would promote Vietnam US relations based on the comprehensive strategic partnership formed last July for peace, security and prosperity.
