A suicide bomber drove his motorbike into Wazir Akbar Khan, a heavily fortified area of the city which houses numerous foreign embassies and government buildings. A spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Defense Ministry said the bomber made it through the first checkpoint but was stopped at the second checkpoint where he detonated his explosives.
