Afghanistan vows to strengthen security on Pakistan border

(VOVWORLD) - Afghanistan's President Ashraf Ghani on Monday telephoned Pakistani Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa to assure him of enhanced border security measures on the Afghan side to assist Pakistan's law enforcement and security forces during the time of elections, a spokesperson said.

President Ghani also called Pakistani Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk to offer condolences on the recent terrorist attacks targeting election rallies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. More than 170 people were killed in bomb attacks targeting election campaigns in Mastung, Peshawar, and Bannu last week, as the death toll in the Mastung tragedy rose to 149.
