AMECS cooperation opens new development space for businesses

(VOVworld) – A dialogue with business representatives from the AMECS countries was held in Myanmar’s capital Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday. The Prime Ministers of Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand and ASEAN’s Secretary General Le Luong Minh attended the event. Delegates expressed delight at the summit’s approval of the 2016-2018 action plan, focusing on 8 cooperation priorities and recommended that AMECS leaders pay more attention to 6 key areas of cooperation including creating favorable conditions for trade and investment promotion and boosting agricultural cooperation. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and the Prime Ministers of other AMECS nations acknowledged the significant recommendations of the businesses, particularly in infrastructure development and the turning of transportation corridors into economic corridors. Prime Minister Dung analyzed the potential and advantages of the 5 AMECS nations in increasing the role and position of global production and the supply and demand chain as well as connecting Southeast Asia with large markets such as India and China: “AMECS cooperation not only consolidates friendship between neighbors but also opens a new development space for businesses inside and outside the region. I believe you will not miss this golden opportunity to achieve success. I hope to receive your positive responses with practical actions towards prosperity, robust development, and sustainability in our 5-country region.”

Prime Minister Dung said that the Vietnamese government will continue to step up economic restructuring and international integration with a view to improve the business environment and increase national competitiveness. With the imminent formation of the ASEAN Economic Community by the end of the year and the completion of negotiations for 14 FTAs from now until 2020, Vietnam will be an important link in a wide economic network of 55 partners including the US, the EU, Russia, Japan, and China. The Vietnamese government leader said Vietnam always welcomes the investment of foreign businesses in Vietnam.
