According to the latest survey announced by CNN/ORC International on Monday, 63 percent of 1,000 Americans questioned by telephone said that John Boehner should be replaced as Speaker of the House. A majority of those questioned blamed congressional Republicans for the government shutdown and said the President was the bigger winner in the deal to end the crisis. 54 percent of the respondents said the conflict between the two houses of Congress that resulted in the 16-day partial government shutdown were bad for the US.  The results of a poll by Pew Research last weekend showed that the number of supporters for President Barack Obama and Democrat senators also sharply decreased.

According to experts, voter discontentment is likely to cast a shadow over the mid-term election in 2014. The poll results were announced while Republicans were blaming one another for the 16-day government shutdown. Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell promised not to repeat the mistake while Jeb Bush, former governor of Florida and a potential presidential candidate in 2016 chastised Republican senators for compromising with the White House and the Democrats and going against their message.
