(VOVWORLD) - Midfield player Tran Thi Phuong Thao has been honored by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the most successful interceptions in the 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup.

Thao is one of the key players of the Vietnam football team who played in all six matches of the just-concluded AFC Women’s Asian Cup in India.
According to AFC, the midfielder, born in 1993, made 15 interceptions in the last tournament.
Phuong Thao, Chuong Thi Kieu, My Anh, and Thu Thao are the four important players on the Vietnamese women's team.
Goalkeeper Kim Thanh played extremely well and was also honored for making the most successful saves, 27 times, during the tournament.
